How does it work?
As always, when you KeyCite a case, it brings up the procedural history in text format so you can scan through the list of decisions involved in a chain of litigation.
Now, with Graphical KeyCite, you simply click the link or icon and get a "picture" of the direct case history all in one screen.
· Visually depicts how a case has moved through the court system; lowest courts are at the bottom and highest court at the top.
· Case opinions and court documents are linked directly to Westlaw Canada; just click on the case or court document link, view it, and click right back to the graphical view.
· Graphical KeyCite clearly labels the case you KeyCited. A case's cite, title, jurisdiction, date, and history treatments are displayed in each case box
· For a closer look at a procedural box, just roll your mouse over it, and the case title and cite information will appear.
When you're finished with the graphical view, you can return to the standard text view. Check the continued validity of your case using negative citing references, and check positive citing references and related documents to complete your research. |
