NEW! The Canadian Abridgment eDigests

The Canadian Abridgment eDigests are a current awareness service that is designed to help lawyers and legal researchers keep abreast of the latest developments in case law for a particular topic. The content is derived from case digests that have been written for The Canadian Abridgment Case Digests. The Canadian Abridgment eDigests are available for specific topical areas, and represent a sub-set of all of the cases digested for The Canadian Abridgment, excluding cases that are judged to have little precedential value.

The Canadian Abridgment eDigests are available to WestlaweCARSWELL subscribers, based on the Source service to which they subscribe, at no extra charge. Customers who are not WestlaweCARSWELL subscribers can pay a subscription fee to receive the eDigests. The Canadian Abridgment eDigests are delivered to the local WestlaweCARSWELL administrator as an html attachment to an email message. The electronic format provides customers with a convenient way to make copies of the digests available throughout their office.

The Canadian Abridgment, Third Edition

New Subject Titles

At the end of December 2007, Carswell completed its five-year project to replace the Second Edition of the Canadian Abridgment with the Third Edition.  The Third Edition of the Canadian Abridgment includes a revised and updated classification scheme, which should facilitate legal research using case digests.

Abridgment content on LawSource has been updated to include the new Third Edition subject titles. This update involved replacing some classifications and digests from the Second Edition with new Third Edition classifications and digests.

The following Concordance indicates the relationship between the previous Second Edition and the new Third Edition volumes:
