New Westlaw Canada Website
Insurance Act Concordance
Client ID Notification
|
We are pleased to announce that a new Westlaw® Canada website will be launching this month. The new site is intended to better reflect the Thomson Reuters brand. It will be more dynamic, easier to use and allow us to update information more frequently.
The url will remain the same – westlawcanada.com. You will still be able to login to Westlaw Canada from this site and access detailed product information, eBulletin archives and training materials as you do today. See here
A new legislative concordance will soon be made available on Westlaw Canada. This new concordance will allow you to look up any issue related to insurance law to find the applicable provisions in the Insurance Acts of every Canadian jurisdiction. The Insurance Act Concordance will be available to all Westlaw Canada subscribers on a pay-per-use basis.
We’ve recently made minor changes to our Sign-On page that reminds you that a Client ID is a required field. We’ve also added links that explain in detail what a Client ID is. This change can be seen on our English and French Sign-On pages for Westlaw Canada as well as OnePass.

Personal Injury Quantum Service customers will soon be able to broaden or narrow their searches between all cases involving a particular injury, and only those cases in which that injury was primary, respectively.
Westlaw Canada case law results lists will soon indicate how many times each decision has been cited by the Courts. Citation frequency notes will appear both in search and KeyCite® Canada result lists.
This enhancement will be an especially useful tool when you are faced with a large number of hits in a search result or a large number of KeyCite citing references for a case or legislative provision. New functionality will enable you to limit your search and KeyCite results using this criterion, and, used on its own or in combination with other ways of limiting your results, will provide a new strategy for identifying cases that have the most precedential value.
ResultsPlus is a powerful new search tool that will add a new dimension to your case law research by suggesting related analysis from the Canadian Encyclopedic Digest or facta from Westlaw Canada Litigator that is relevant to your research.
Using cutting-edge artificial intelligence tools, ResultsPlus will provide information in two contexts:
- When you run a case law search on Westlaw, ResultsPlus suggests CED or factum documents relevant to your search
- When you are viewing a particular case, ResultsPlus suggests CED or factum documents relevant to the issues discussed in that case
We trust that this new search tool, which will be available in the spring, will not only make your research more efficient but also help you ensure that it is comprehensive.
A new link is being added to the top of every Westlaw Canada screen. The COURT DOCS link will make it simple to search the various Court Documents on Westlaw Canada. Access to more than 90,000 actual court Pleadings, Motions, Facta and Insolvency Filings will be just a few clicks away. Click here for a sneak peek
